This document provides an overview of the battery system safety and the codes and standards applicable to Powerwall, BSLBATT’s home battery solution. BSLBATT Powerwall is a state-of-the-art battery system intended for residential and light commercial applications.
Right now, lithium batteries have become the industry standard for rechargeable storage devices. They have higher energy densities than legacy batteries (up to 100 times higher), which makes it work so well but also makes them flammable. Actually, the risks and concerns can be easily mitigated if the technology is well understood.
Each battery in BSLBATT Energy Products is composed of multiple small formats, rhombus lithium-ion cells. The cells are connected in series and parallel to form modules. One or more modules are combined within an IP67-rated steel enclosure. Each product contains independent protection hardware and an electrically-isolating controlled power electronics stage. In addition, each product has an integrated battery thermal management system. In its assembled state, Powerwall is a fully-integrated energy storage system that contains some of the most advanced battery technology in the industry.
Powerwall is designed and manufactured to meet or exceed the most stringent industry safety standards. Units are manufactured in China with repeatable and highly precise processes. This enables a high level of quality control and the ability to mass-produce a safe and reliable product.

Yes, LITHIUM BATTERIES have been making headlines for some reason.
But there’re many misunderstandings or stereotypes within this.
1)First of all, there’re many kinds of lithium batteries. Like LCO, NCM, LiMn2O4, and LiFePO4, etc. As you can see from the below sheet, their safety performances differ.
The exploded Samsung mobile phone’s battery was provided by the ATL company, using the LiCoO2 Li-battery.
Our lithium powerwall battery uses the 4th category in this chart--Lifepo4. It enjoys a higher safety performance as well as long cycle life.
2)Secondly, we have the Battery Management System (BMS) for each Lifepo4 battery pack.

3) Also, for some high voltage batteries, like batteries used in forklifts, we have a high volt controlling box.
The battery will automatically stop if something goes wrong. So that they won’t generate any heat or power.
It’s also worth mentioning, LiFePO4 batteries are non-contaminating, non-toxic and contain no rare earth metals, making the BSLBATT Powerwall an environmentally conscious choice. Compared to lead-acid and other lithium batteries, lithium iron phosphate batteries offer significant advantages, including improved discharge and charge efficiency, longer life span and the ability to deep cycle while maintaining performance, all the advantages you can see in the above chart.
